The story of CRISIS is in homes across the country -- homes where a family member has lost a job, where parents are struggling to pay a mortgage, and where individuals are making the choice between food and life sustaining medication. But these types of situations are not new ones. For over 20 years CRISISline has answered the cries of many Americans right here in Greenville County struggling to make ends meet, looking for shelter from the rain, and overwhelmed with the tasks of life. CRISISline is a free and confidential 24/7 hotline offering support, information and referral, and crisis intervention. Volunteers are an essential component to the CRISISline program but more importantly they are the reassuring voice, the listening ear, and often the bridge to hope for many of our neighbors in crisis. Will you be that listening ear? Become a CRISISline volunteer. Training starts in June. No experience required. Non-judgmental attitude, excellent listening skills, and an ability to empathize and do heart work essential. For more information call 864-467-3347 or email volunteer@mhagc.org.
